Hello Barbara. A request please, if I may. I have written a book (as yet to be published) about my grandfather Heathcote Tatham. The content of the book covers his service in WWI with the Rhodesia Regiment in GWSA and the Kings Royal Rifle Corps on the Western Front. After the war, he farmed in the eastern districts of what was then Southern Rhodesia. In the book I talk about a concertina gate. I have endeavoured to explain what these are and how they work. However, I know that many potential readers will not know anything about concertina gates and I would like to copy the image of your lovely painting of this aspect of early farming life, that you displayed in your blog. For the record, I have been through your blog and admire your work very much!
    Thank you.
    Most sincerely,

    Hello Barbara
May I request a favour please? I have written a a tale (as yet unpublished) about my grandfather who farmed in the eastern Districts of what was then Southern Rhodesia. It explores his experiences in WWI in German South West Africa and on the Western Front. He farmed after the war and one of the stories concerns a concertina gate. I fear that despite my best endevours to explain what such gates are and how they work, that many readers will be unaware what I’m on about! May I ask if I may use the image that you painted of such a gate in the Karoo as displayed in your blog site within the book? Obviously I will mention that this is your work and reference your URL. By the way, I’m most impressed with all your wonderful work. Thank you and most sincerely,

Hi there Mike, yes of course you may use the image to help people understand what a Concertina gate looks like. We had lots of those on our farm in the Mazoe district, and have them still here on our karoo farm :) Your book sounds interesting, good luck with it !!
